The following diagram describes Granovetter’s advantageous imbalance.
Granovetter (1973): the higher the number of weak ties (bridges) possessed by an ego, the higher the probability of the ego’s venture attaining success (also supported by Hansen, 1999). Strong ties (bonds), by virtue of their relative permanence and non-conditionality, will be present but need not be numerous.
