Smartville’s Logical Layout

The Smartville layout combines flow and process. The modular concept improves flow, but necessitates cell processes, so a purely linear layout is not achieved. Instead, virtual linearity is achieved. Modules are installed sequentially upon the frame, which acts as a mobile convergence point.

A more precise description of Smartville’s logical process might be “convergence sequential”.

Each supplier pre-prepares their module and then positions it line side. MCC installs that module when the Tridion frame arrives at the supplier’s station. The supplier performs a subassembly; MCC performs the main assembly. The progression of the frame thus enables an aggregative sequence.
